Exciting News

We want to let you in on some exciting news about Pasta Tavola. We’re growing and we couldn’t be happier!  Currently we are undergoing construction to add an additional 1000 square feet of production space to our already 1500 sq. foot commercial kitchen, including new machines and larger coolers/freezer space.  What this all means for our customers is that we will now be able to spread even more Pasta Tavola love and introduce more shapes, flavours and other Pasta Tavola delectables to your customer’s tables.

Here’s a few things that you need to know. Our artisanal ravioli is made with 100% Ontario milled wheat and a combination of Ontario and Canadian grown wheat blends. We continue to work with local Ontario producers to include high quality local ingredients in all that we do and look forward to adding the Ontario Foodland designation to our packaging and marketing material shortly.

Our ravioli is still as convenient as ever to prepare but moving to a new production set-up has meant making some tweaks to our original pasta dough recipe and ravioli size. This makes for a slightly longer cooking time (now 4-6 minutes) but much more suited for rigorous boiling or the perfect pasta baked dish. Rest assured these tweaks did not sacrifice the deliciousness that is the hallmark of our Pasta Tavola products. Our ratio of filling to pasta is still greater than industry standard and our commitment to bringing you high quality, pure ingredients without additives and preservatives still remains.

As for our frozen and jarred sauces,  we just introduced a silky rosé sauce to our frozen sauce line-up and our new jarred flavour–Rustic Siciliana with Sundried Tomatoes—is scheduled to be released shortly.  These gourmet sauces have been developed to bring the best all natural ingredients and flavours to your table without the preservatives found in other brands.

We are also excited to announce that in the next few months we will be updating our website to better reflect all of what we do and how we can better serve our retail partners.  

We want to thank you all for your support of our company and the enthusiasm you have for sharing our food with your customers.  We look forward to continuing our retail relationship with you.

Our retail outlet is always evolving so if you haven’t checked us out lately you’re sure to find some additional offerings and changes. We continue to search out only the best in locally sourced products and we’re bringing more and more of them to our store. This month try our lamb pies made with ethically raised lamb from John McColl Farm in Quinte West.  These pies are melt your mouth delicious. Stay tuned for more local products in the up & coming months as we continue to grow!

Lastly, our 2015 Pasta Making Classes are now posted. We’re offering two types of classes—Pasta 101 which focuses on making various long and short pastas from scratch and Stuffed Pasta Techniques which will focus on specialty pastas such as ravioli and other stuffed pasta dishes. All these classes are held in our Pasta Tavola kitchen and are jammed packed with helpful tips, recipes and a whole lot of fun. These classes are great Christmas gifts or as a day out with friends. Get Creative in your Kitchen with Pasta Tavola!

 

We’re excited to once again be working in partnership with the LCBO on a series of creative cooking demonstrations at two Ottawa locations!  Join Chef Paula & Victoria around the pasta table this fall/ winter and learn just how many delicious meal options you can create with the classic “pasta noodle”.  More LCBO classes are scheduled for the Toronto area starting in November.  Check out the LCBO website at LCBO Cooking Classes .

JUNE 7-8 2014- CHEESE! CHEESE! & MORE CHEESE PLEASE!

Pasta Tavola is happy to be partnering with Fifth Town Artisan Cheese Company during the Great Canadian Cheese Festival! The Pasta Ladies will be serving up an assortment of our authentic fresh pasta and ravioli along with some fabulous, cheesy sauces.  Check out our “Recipes from the Pasta Table” link for more delicious recipes using local products!

Creamy Fifth Town Chevre Rosé Sauce

Goat cheese adds a nice richness and tang to a classic tomato sauce. Whether plain or herbed, this Fifth Town and Pasta Tavola combination will turn any “classico” into “magnifico”!

  • 1 package (500 ml) of Pasta Tavola Classico Tomato or Spicy Arrabbiata Sauce
  • 3 heaping tablespoons of Fifth Town Bagel Chevre
  • 1 Package (500g) of Pasta Tavola Artisanal Ravioli or 4 servings (600g) of Pasta Tavola fresh pasta
  • In a sauce pan, heat Pasta Tavola sauce until warm. Add Chevre, stirring continuously until incorporated and smooth.  HEAT ON LOW.
  • In a large pot of salted boiling water, add Pasta Tavola ravioli or fresh pasta and cook according to package instructions.
  • Add to sauce and enjoy!!!

For added flavour, try incorporating fresh herbs or vegetables such as green peas or peppers into the sauce.  Simply add to a warming sauce.

Did you know? Chevre is a healthy alternative to whole cream with only 20% milk fat content.  It is also a great thickener for sauces and soups!

Introducing Recipes from the Pasta Table! New!

 

The Pasta Table is the inspiration for our company. It was around our Nonna’s pasta table — “pasta tavola” that we learned the art of creating not only fresh pasta from scratch but also many delicious meals. Recipes were blended using simple, wholesome and fresh ingredients, often picked from the garden out back or delivered to our Nonna’s back door by the local butcher. Meals were made slowly throughout the day, in community with family members, friends and neighbours sharing stories about the old country. Once the meal was prepared, the pasta table quickly turned into the dining table where everyone joined in for a traditional Italian feast!

At Pasta Tavola, our love of good food and our desire to share it with our customers is rooted in our Italian heritage and the experience we had cooking with family in the kitchen. Over the next few months we will be introducing a new page and blog on our website called “Recipes from the Pasta Table”. Our first recipe will be posted this Friday just in time for the Great Canadian Cheese Festival taking place June 7-8 at the Crystal Palace in PEC. The Pasta Ladies LOVE cheese and we’ve partnered with Fifth Town Artisan Cheese Company to deliver some mmmarvelous pasta and sauce recipes at the festival.

“Recipes from the Pasta Table`’ is about being creative with simple ingredients you have in your own kitchen, backyard garden or found at your local farmer’s market or at the Pasta Tavola store. It’s about turning simple, fresh ingredients into a delicious, memorable meal to be shared with friends and loved ones. Look at what we’ve been up to!

You might be surprised to hear that Pasta Tavola is more than just your local pasta and specialty food shop.  Did you know that Pasta Tavola has been building its brand and wholesaling their artisanal ravioli, sauces and pasta products across Eastern Ontario for over two years?

None of this would be possible without the dedication and commitment of our staff–Grace, Nico, Linda and Gordon– to create and deliver high quality, wholesome and delicious food to you, our customers.

Recently we entered the Ottawa market with a big bang!  Ottawaians are loving the fresh, handcrafted meal offerings that we create daily in our production kitchen at 109 N. Front Street in Belleville.

Spring Ahead with Pasta Tavola!

 

Just wanted to let you in on some of the things happening here at Pasta Tavola!

More and more people are loving the high- quality, convenient and fantastic tasting food that Pasta Tavola creates every day.  For the past two years we have been selling some of our products wholesale to customers outside of the Hastings & Prince Edward County region and recently we entered the Ottawa & Toronto markets.

If you are one of our Ottawa fans and followers, you’ll be happy to know that select Pasta Tavola products are now being sold at Jacobsons, The Red Apron and Loblaw on Isabella in Ottawa!  In fact this Saturday, March 29th, Chef Paula will be at Loblaw 64 Isabella Street to share a tasting of our artisanal ravioli and sauce recipes.  Please spread the word about this event.  We want everyone to share in the Pasta Tavola experience!

In Toronto, we’re at All the Best Fine Foods on Yonge, just by the Summerhill LCBO.  Watch for demos and tastings to take place at this location throughout the summer months.  If you are one of our Toronto customers and want to see our products in other locations, please let us know where you shop–or better yet tell your retailers about us! There just might be some free “pasta” in it for you!

Thanks to everyone who participated in our first set of pasta making classes this year.  They were a hit!  There is still space available for our last pasta making class of the season.  This class, which has been rescheduled to Saturday April 5th at 10:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m., will be at Norman Hardie WineryParticipants will be in for a great experience.  Great food, great wine, great atmosphere.  What else could you ask for?  Check out the details here and register at 613.779.9739.

Pasta Tavola has decided to take a little break from the Belleville Farmer’s Market this summer as we focus on building our business in other areas. You can still pick-up all your favourites,  including  Angelo Bean’s wine infused sausages all summer long at our retail outlet at 109 N. Front Street. We’ll look forward to seeing you!
